The construction of the first
stage of CHP-3 and two gas-fired thermal power plants with a total capacity of
1130 Gcal in Astana will create a surplus of thermal energy until 2026,
particularly, to maintain the current rate of housing construction. At the Government’s
meeting, members of the Cabinet of Ministers as well as the city’s mayor Zhenis
Kassymbek discussed the implementation of the instructions given by the Head of
State on the further development of the metropolis. Astana mayor also reported
on the implementation of projects on water supply, development of transport
infrastructure, construction and repair of roads. He also touched upon the
development of new policy documents, including the general plan of city development
until 2035, the program of renovation until 2030, and a single concept of
landscaping. Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov emphasized the need for
timely completion of construction and installation works on all infrastructure
projects in Astana. He instructed to consider the issues of financing the
city’s priority projects while forming and defining the state budget as well as
to create a comprehensive development plan for the metropolitan agglomeration and
submit it to the Kazakh Government by the end of the year. Addressing the
development of Astana is one of the most important areas of the state’s work, Smailov
noted.
