Kazakhstan to commission 111 million square meters of housing by 2029

As part of the Year of Working Professions declared by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, it is necessary to expand preferential mortgage and rental housing programs in Kazakhstan, as stated by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov during a government meeting on the further development of housing construction. He emphasized the importance of strengthening efforts to provide apartments to citizens in need under a one-window principle as part of the transformation of the Otbasy Bank into a development institute. The meeting also discussed intensifying efforts to attract private investments for the development of the industry. Various proposals were presented, including funding for preferential programs, supporting industrial enterprise personnel, and launching new products. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry and Construction summarised the results for 2024 regarding the commissioning of new housing. Last year, around 19 million square meters of housing were built, representing a 6.5 percent increase compared to 2023. The plan is to reach 111 million square meters by 2029.
