Kazakhstan to celebrate National Dombyra Day on July 5

On July 5, Kazakhstan will celebrate National Dombyra Day. Established in 2018, the holiday honors one of the country’s foremost symbols of national culture and spiritual heritage. It is observed annually on the first Sunday of July. In the lead-up to the celebration, concerts, festive events, and cultural performances are held across the country. The holiday aims to preserve and promote the unique musical heritage of the Great Steppe. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has previously emphasized the significance of National Dombyra Day. Speaking at a joint session of Parliament, he said that the dombyra, as a sacred national treasure, should become a distinctive global brand representing Kazakhstan.
