Kazakhstan is strengthening its position in
the global agricultural market. In the first half of the year, the country
produced around 100,000 tonnes of rice. According to Energyprom, almost half of
this amount was exported. From January to May, about 46,000 tonnes of rice were
shipped abroad, marking a 21% increase compared to last year. The last export
season—from September 2024 to July 2025—was a record-breaking period for grain
crops, with exports rising by 34% compared to the previous year. According to
Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, nearly 12.5 million tonnes of grain and flour were
transported. Deliveries to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Iran,
and Azerbaijan saw significant growth. Export markets also expanded: for the
first time, Kazakhstan began supplying grain to Belgium, Poland, Portugal,
Norway, and the UK. Exports of durum wheat to Italy saw a significant increase.
Additionally, domestic wheat has garnered increasing interest from the UAE,
Vietnam, and North African countries.
