Kazakhstan’s machine-building industry grew by more than 11%
in the first six months of the year, driven primarily by automotive enterprises
and rail and transport equipment plants. Notably, domestic producers of
agricultural machinery now meet up to 90% of the country’s internal demand.
Over the half-year period, major factories produced 4,000 tractors and more
than 440 combine harvesters. This year, two new automobile plants are set to
begin operations - one in Almaty and another in Kostanai. By the end of the
year, production is expected to exceed 147,000 vehicles. Kazakhstan will also
begin manufacturing Samsung household appliances. As early as this year, TV
sets and washing machines labeled Made in Kazakhstan will be available for
purchase.
