Kazakhstan’s gross agricultural output reaches 1.6 trillion tenge in first half of 2024

The volume of gross agricultural output has reached 1.6 trillion tenge since the beginning of 2024. The figure increased by 3.4 percent in the first half of the year, driven by growth in both livestock and crop production. The Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture is currently implementing a series of measures aimed at further enhancing the efficiency of the agricultural sector and improving the business environment.

«For the first time, the total volume of lending for spring field and harvesting works has reached 580 billion tenge. In addition to the 180 billion tenge of concessional financing available at the beginning of the year, the government ensured the attraction of an additional 400 billion tenge for lending to farmers at an annual rate of five percent. The availability of sufficient concessional loan funds will enable farmers to comply with technologies to achieve high yields. Another financing channel, namely the social-entrepreneurial corporations of the regions, has been introduced to simplify the loan acquisition process,» said Olzhas Tlebaldin, spokesperson for the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture.

Notably, the highest growth rates are observed in the Turkistan, Kostanai, Almaty, Pavlodar, Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, and Atyrau regions. The government has approved a comprehensive plan for the development of processing until 2028, with the goal of increasing the share of processed products to 70 percent. It is planned to allocate 372 billion tenge for its implementation, 150 of which will be used to invest in projects.
