Kazakhstan resumes grain supplies to Iran and Azerbaijan

Kazakhstan is strengthening its position in international grain markets. The country has resumed and increased the volume of products supplied to Iran and Azerbaijan. Supplies to Iran surged 30-fold, while shipments to Azerbaijan doubled to 188,000 tonnes. In 2024, Kazakh grain was purchased by countries such as China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan, accounting for about 45-60 percent of total production. According to the Kazakh national railway operator, over 10.5 million tonnes of grain were transported in 2024, with more than eight million tonnes accounting for export. From September to December last year, 3.9 million tonnes of grain were shipped to foreign markets, and the export volume of the new harvest increased by 57 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
