Kazakhstan ready to increase non-resource exports to Azerbaijan by $340 million

Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan aim to strengthen cooperation. Kazakhstan is ready to increase supplies of 130 types of non-resource goods by more than $340 million. This was announced during the official visit of Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov to Baku. During his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Bektenov conveyed greetings from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and emphasized that bilateral cooperation has reached a new qualitative level of partnership, thanks to the trusting relationship between the two heads of state. The Kazakh Prime Minister then held intergovernmental talks with his counterpart, Ali Asadov. The parties discussed trade and economic cooperation, collaboration in the transport and logistics sector, and the development of cultural and humanitarian ties. Notably, last year, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan reached $533 million, while cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian transport corridor totaled 4.5 million tonnes. The meetings resulted in the signing of several bilateral agreements, including one on the design and construction of an underwater fiber-optic communication line along the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan route. This strategic project aims to improve communication quality and increase data transmission between Asia and Europe.
