Kazakhstan has observed a positive trend in the manufacturing industry, with a total output indicator of 105 percent in the first half of 2024. The sector ranks third in contributing to the country’s GDP, following mining and trade. The Kazakh government is taking measures to boost domestic production, focusing on areas such as mechanical engineering, petrochemicals, and advanced metal processing.
Thus, Kazakhstan plans to increase copper production to 750,000 tonnes by 2029. A new copper smelter plant project is now underway in the Abai region. There are also plans to ramp up aluminum processing to 72,000 tonnes this year. To this end, 25 agreements have been signed between manufacturing enterprises and major mining companies.
