Kazakhstan intends to boost its meat livestock
sector to increase exports, with a focus on adopting Australian practices.
Fourteen initiatives are set to receive 29 billion tenge in funding. These
efforts are expected to provide up to 50,000 tonnes of meat annually for
export, generating around 500 billion tenge in yearly revenue. Minister of
Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov announced this during a government meeting, stating
that last year beef exports increased by almost 1.5 times, exceeding 22,000
tonnes, while lamb exports more than doubled, reaching 18,000 tonnes. This
growth was driven by a steady rise in the national livestock population. In
just the first five months of this year, the number of all types of farm
animals grew by 25 percent. Since the beginning of 2025, production of
processed livestock products has also accelerated, with some segments recording
growth between 11 and 50 percent. Additionally, customs duties on hides and
wool for export have been abolished.
«Currently, 62 Kazakh enterprises are listed
in the European registry. Work is also underway to create conditions for
exporting aquaculture, horse meat, and dairy products. Additionally, 2,649
Kazakh enterprises are registered as exporters to China. In 2025, we signed a
protocol with China on the supply of poultry meat, which sets out veterinary
and sanitary requirements. Experts will visit our country, paving the way for
poultry exports to China to begin. Veterinary certificates have also been
signed with Georgia and Iran. Efforts continue to expand livestock product
markets with Türkiye, Afghanistan, and Pakistan,» Saparov said.
