President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about the prospects for cooperation between Kazakhstan and Cyprus at a briefing following the talks. The parties intend to focus in particular on increasing bilateral trade volumes. In addition, the Head of State invited Cypriot partners to take an active part in the Trans-Caspian route project. According to him, the Middle Corridor opens up significant opportunities for the effective integration of Kazakhstan’s land infrastructure and Cyprus’s maritime infrastructure. This will help form a new multi-vector logistics system between Central Asia, the Caspian region, and the Mediterranean, and contribute to the expansion of mutual trade. President Tokayev noted that more than 400 companies with Cypriot capital are currently operating in Kazakhstan. About 30 of them are registered at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC).
«This alone demonstrates the consistent development of our business and investment ties. We recently adopted a new Constitution, which guarantees all forms of property in Kazakhstan. The Basic Law provides strong protection for investors’ rights. In addition, our Cypriot partners can take advantage of Kazakhstan’s Altyn Visa program. Entrepreneurs and skilled professionals who obtain this visa are eligible for a range of tax and migration incentives,» noted Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Digital technologies and innovation were highlighted as areas with significant potential for mutually beneficial cooperation. According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Cypriot side has shown interest in Kazakhstan’s eGov system and digital public service initiatives. Kazakhstan is ready to share its experience in this area, the President noted. The talks also covered international and regional issues. The two countries share similar positions on many matters and firmly adhere to the principle that any conflict should be resolved exclusively through peaceful and diplomatic means. The sides agreed on cooperation within the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, and other international organizations, while actively contributing to peace and stability.
«We also underlined the importance of maintaining regular exchanges at all
levels because sustained political dialogue is essential to building trust and
delivering tangible results. I’m particularly pleased that today we signed a number of memoranda of
understanding. These agreements, they are a tangible proof of our shared ambition to transform the great
potential of our bilateral relations into a more structured and substantive
framework of cooperation,» said Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of
Cyprus.
