Kazakhstan plans to boost sunflower oil exports to $1 billion

Kazakhstan aims to increase its sunflower oil exports to $1 billion by 2028. To achieve this, the country has developed an industry-specific roadmap. Kazakh producers of oil and fat products plan to expand sowing areas and develop deep processing. Meanwhile, last year’s exports of oil and fat products reached a record $837 million. Next year, the country intends to increase sunflower cultivation areas to 850,000 hectares. Notably, Kazakhstan is among the top 10 global exporters of sunflower oil and supplies it to more than 20 countries.

«At present, considering the countries of Central Asia, China, and the Caucasus region, Kazakhstan is one of their key exporters of oil and fat products. The role of the Ministry of Agriculture and, secondly, of the Ministry of Trade and Integration, is important in achieving this goal, particularly in selling the harvested crops on foreign markets said Nurlan Kulbatyrov, Deputy Director General of the QazTrade Center for Trade Policy Development.
