Kazakhstan launches project to attract global IT talent

Kazakhstan has launched Digital Nomad Residency, a new type of visa designed to attract global IT talent. The pilot project aims not only to attract foreign specialists working in information technology but also provide them with the opportunity to obtain a permanent residence permit in the country. Foreign IT specialists can apply through the Astana Hub portal, with applications processed within 45 calendar days. After that, candidates can finalize their registration process in Kazakhstan.

«The Digital Nomad and Digital Nomad Residency visas launched in Kazakhstan are fundamentally different from the current visa options, as they are specifically tailored to in-demand IT professions. A key aspect is that the list of eligible IT professions is limited to those classified as in-demand occupations. These visas primarily target IT specialists, allowing them to work remotely for both foreign and local companies. This also opens up opportunities for IT specialists to visit Kazakhstan after obtaining, for example, a Digital Nomad e-visa,» said Talgat Maratov, Director of the Astana Hub Participant Support Office.
