Kazakhstan launches portal to honor war veterans

The batyrlargatagzym.kz website has been launched in Kazakhstan. The special portal provides data on war veterans and enables to share information about frontline soldiers. It comprises data on over 100,000 soldiers, collected from various sources. Launched in pilot mode last year, the portal garners great interest from the public and volunteers, which allows to expand its functionality. Users can find information about frontline soldiers by entering their full name on the website. In the near future, the developers plan to incorporate additional search parameters such as place of birth, service, or rank. Every Kazakh citizen can contribute by sharing information about veterans, including documents from family archives, photographs, or letters from the front. According to Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva, the project is primarily aimed at ensuring that every hero receives the recognition they rightly deserve in history. The developers hope that by the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, the portal will comprise data on all war veterans.
