The spirit of freedom and the style of a nomad. The first open competition among young designers, the Global Nomads Fashion Awards, was announced in Nur-Sultan. Its goal is to identify new talents as well as develop export-oriented and competitive textile products with the Kazakh country code. More than 80 young designers have already submitted applications for participation, most of them are students of Kazakh universities majoring in fashion. The participants will have to complete a rather difficult task - to create an attire of a modern nomad in the digital style. The works of fashion designers will be evaluated by international fashion experts from the US, UK and Russia. The winners in five nominations will be announced in February next year. Each of them will have the opportunity to make their own clothing line under a well-known Kazakh brand.
“The project is aimed at developing creative potential and we, together with young designers, are searching for a country code, what is Kazakhstan? We want to create a country brand and find answers to the questions “who is a modern nomad, who is a digital nomad?” Today everyone is into digitalization, people travel, and we, as part of this competition, will create comfortable clothes, souvenir products for local tourists and for foreign tourists who come to Kazakhstan and, seeing the brand of our clothes, will understand that this is Kazakhstan!” said Irina Nechayeva, project coordinator.
