Kazakhstan may soon export horse
meat to France in significant quantities. The country is ready to purchase
products worth $10 million from domestic producers. The export can proceed once
the parties reach an agreement on a veterinary certificate for the trade, as
announced by Kazakh Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Kairat Torebayev in
an exclusive interview with the Silk Way TV channel. Additionally, Torebayev
emphasized that France is one of the world leaders in the organic products
market and can share its experience with Kazakhstan. Overall, the two countries
have outlined new cooperation areas for the future. In addition to agriculture,
this includes the pharmaceutical and energy sectors. According to Torebayev,
hosting major international events and high-level meetings in Astana this week
will certainly bear fruit for the development of Kazakhstan’s economy and
attract additional investment to the country.
“I would like to note the
significance of the countries with which Kazakhstan maintains economic and
other relations. For example, France is Kazakhstan’s main trading partner in
the European Union. This is evidenced by the indicators, with an annual growth
of trade of about 30 percent. During
such events, both sides commit to improving the trade regime and engage in various
agreements. We also sign investment contracts, which generate long-term effect,
and that is why such events are very important for us,” Torebayev said.
