Kazakhstan to study China’s water conservation experience

Kazakhstan is interested in studying China’s water saving technology. According to Kazakh Minister of Trade and Integration Serik Zhumangarin, China has accumulated a number of effective practical solutions due to its natural features. Zhumangarin intends to discuss issues of water conservation at a meeting with the head of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) during his working trip to China. The Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture has developed a 2023-2026 draft roadmap for efficient water consumption. The document includes projects for the construction of tanks for collecting and accumulating meltwater, reconstruction and modernization of interstate canal sections, improvement of the accounting system for water coming from neighboring countries and mechanisms for providing state support to farmers, diversification of crop areas, and introduction of modern water accounting systems and water-saving technologies. It bears noting that Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed China to develop a joint program for the introduction of new technologies in the water sector at the Central Asia-China summit this May.
