Kazakhstan considers prospects for discovery of new deposits

The mineral resource complex of Kazakhstan has fully adapted to the requirements of the world market over the years of Independence, said Kazakh Vice Minister of Ecology, Geology and Mineral Resources Serikkali Brekeshev at a briefing in the Central Communications Service. According to him, over the past 30 years, over a thousand deposits have been transferred to subsoil use. Each of them today not only brings income to the country, but also provides employment for the population. There are more than 1,500 such objects in the country. As the speaker noted, this fact primarily determines the inflow of significant capital investments in Kazakhstan. Over the past 25 years, nearly 73 trillion tenge has been attracted to the country. Almost 70 percent of them were directed to the development of the oil and gas sector, the rest – to the mining and metallurgy industry. Serikkali Brekeshev also spoke about priority areas for investment and plans for the future.

“There are prospects for the discovery of new deposits for other ore minerals, including tungsten, molybdenum, aluminum, tin, as well as rare earths. In order to determine the direction of further development of the industry, work is being carried out to update the concept of developing the geological industry. The concept will be implemented as part of the national project “Sustainable economic growth aimed at improving the welfare of Kazakh residents”. The work will help draw up maps of geological content with an assessment of the prospects for the territories of Kazakhstan for the subsequent stages of geological exploration and attracting investments in geological exploration,” said Serikkali Brekeshev, Kazakh Vice Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources.
