Kazakhstan, China expand economic cooperation

Kazakh and Chinese businesspeople have signed export contracts worth $100 million. The documents were signed during a trade mission in Xi’an. Experts are confident that this will boost the partnership and open up new opportunities for domestic producers. In addition, the Jiangsu multifunctional center in Central Asia, which is planned to be built in Astana, is expected to help expand business ties.

«It will serve in the future as a large platform for domestic businesses to boost trade turnover, that is, trade and cooperation between China and Kazakhstan. The center will be a multifunctional hub, featuring shopping areas, business negotiation spaces, and other facilities,» said Yelzhan Korzheubayev, chief expert of the Export Promotion Department at the Kazakh Ministry of Trade and Integration.

Another $100 million is set to be invested by Chinese entrepreneurs in the Atyrau region. Plans are in place to launch a private special economic zone or an industrial park. Seven large Chinese companies, including leaders in petrochemicals, renewable energy, construction materials, and waste processing, are ready to take part in the project.

«This park will involve the creation of high-tech industries and environmentally friendly solutions. In other words, both of these projects will also be implemented through investments from the other side,» Korzheubayev added.

Notably, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China increased last year and reached $44 billion ahead of schedule. Meanwhile, the parties intend to raise this figure to $80 billion.
