The 21st kokpar and audaryspak championship of Kazakhstan among adults takes place in Taraz. The large-scale competition is attended by more than 300 professional kokpar athletes from 17 regions of the country. The main goal of the horse contest is to make the national sports popular. Seven kokpar games will be held every day until April 30. The winners will be selected in the first and premier leagues. The best ones will represent Kazakhstan at the World Nomad Games, which will be held in September this year.
“We beat the team from Atyrau, which is in the top three, with a score of 7:2. We’ve got the matches with teams from Turkistan and Kyzylorda regions ahead. We will prepare hard. I think this is a great experience that will help us to show our skills in other competitions in the future,” said Kurmanbek Turganbek, a forward of the Auliye-Ata team.
“The Kazakhstan national team holds a selection process after the championship. Then this team will participate in the world championship this year, which is planned to be held in September in the city of Shymkent. We are waiting for confirmation. An international tournament and nomad games are planned to take place at the end of September in Turkey, and all European and Asian countries are also participating there,” said Nurken Baiburiyev, Kazakhstan national equestrian sports coach.
