Kazakhstan and Brazil are set to strengthen cooperation
in agriculture. At a business forum in Astana that brought together leading
business communities from both countries, memorandums of understanding were
signed between the two countries’ ministries of agriculture in the field of
animal husbandry. The parties also discussed prospects for implementing joint
projects in priority areas such as industry and digital technologies. Thus, the
Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer is actively considering the possibilities
of expanding its presence in Kazakhstan and is ready to provide aircraft for
interregional routes. Additionally, Brazil plans to increase its purchases of
Kazakh fertilizers to meet the needs of its agricultural sector.
«As we know, Brazil is one of the world’s largest meat
exporters. Today, my colleague and I discussed selection issues. Brazil has
extensive expertise in this area. I believe that through cooperation in this
field, we can achieve positive and mutually beneficial results,» Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev noted.
«Kazakhstan is one of the world’s largest exporters of fertilizers, and Brazil is the second largest food exporter. There is huge room for cooperation in this area and is very big. Brazil imports every year 40 million tonnes of fertilizers, so we believe we can explore and expand the amount that we import from Kazakhstan,» Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira said.
