Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are set to
build fiber optic communication lines along the Caspian Sea bed. This agreement
has been reached by the major telecommunications players from the two
countries. The data transmission capacity of the 380-kilometer-long cable line
will reach 400 terabits per second. This joint construction initiative between
the two countries is a key element of the Digital Silk Way transnational
project, aimed at enhancing Internet connectivity in the countries of Central
Asia and the South Caucasus, as well as ensuring the transmission of
multi-terabit data between Asia and Europe. It should be noted that a joint
Kazakh-Azerbaijani venture has been established for the fiber-optic cable line
construction. Overall, the Digital Silk Way initiative will boost the growth of
digital services and the creation of new products.
