Kazakhstan anticipates influx of Italian tourists

Kazakhstan anticipates an influx of Italian tourists. Informational tours across regions of Kazakhstan are expected to have a positive impact on the arrival of travelers from this Southern European country. These tours were specifically organized to introduce representatives from renowned Italian media to the country’s tourism potential.

“This was a series of informational tours, with the first one aimed at promoting the route through southern Kazakhstan – ‘Almaty-Shymkent-Turkistan’ – among Italian tourists. Thus, a group of 10 individuals, including journalists from Italian-language tourism magazines, have arrived at the invitation of the Kazakh-Italian Trade Association and the airline Neos Air,” said Daniyel Serzhanuly, Deputy Chairman of the Kazakh Tourism National Company.

Italian tourists visited the historical part of Shymkent, the Arystan-Baba Mausoleum, Otyrar, and the caravanserai in the Turkistan region. The route through southern Kazakhstan was included in the catalog of a major Italian tour operator, Alpitour.

“After that, the Italian national TV network RAI arrived in Astana and filmed a news story about Kazakhstan. Moreover, a group from well-known magazines ‘Dove’ and the Italian version of ‘National Geographic’ traveled to the Mangystau region to highlight its beauty. The Ustyurt Plateau caught their interest as well. We see the potential for Italy to become one of our main tourism contributors from the European market. After Kazakhstan, they might wish to explore other Central Asian countries, and, in this aspect, we should serve as a hub,” added Serzhanuly.
