Kazakhstan and Georgia: economic relations and expansion of areas of cooperation

Increasing export volumes, concluding new contracts and establishing partnerships - these are the goals with which a trade mission from Kazakhstan arrived in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi. More than twenty companies exporting pasta and confectionery, salt and other products presented Kazakhstan at the business forum. Entrepreneurs realize that the transit opportunities of the two countries are a bridge to enter the European markets.

“I hope that we will reach an agreement on all issues and end up concluding contracts. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you the exact figures, but I can say that agreements have already been signed with a number of large companies,” said Erekle Kandelaki, an import manager of a company.

“In total, five contracts worth US$11.2 million were signed today. Having in mind that our total exports last year were worth US$25 million, but thanks to the today's event we closed half of our export contracts. I am sure that we will double our trade turnover with Georgia this year,” said Azamat Askaruly, General Director of ‘Qaztrade’ Trade Policy Development Center.
