The World Bank is keen to implement
a number of projects in Kazakhstan, including the development of the country’s
transport and logistics infrastructure, acceleration of digitalization,
improvement of the environmental condition of the Aral Sea region, as well as
other promising projects, as announced during the talks between the country’s
Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov and the World Bank's Regional Director for
Central Asia Tatiana Proskuryakova. Smailov noted that the Kazakh Government
attaches great importance to cooperation with the World Bank within the Country
Partnership Framework (CPF) for 2020-2025, a strategic document fostering
further development of the country’s economy. Additionally, the importance of
continuing the Joint Economic Research Program (JERP) has been emphasized,
having proven to be an effective analytical and advisory tool. On her part,
Proskuryakova reaffirmed the World Bank’s intention to continue participating
in the implementation of new projects in Kazakhstan.
