A meeting of the intergovernmental commission took place in Paris, where officials of Kazakhstan and France discussed the prospects for cooperation in priority sectors of the economy. At the end of 2020, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to nearly US$3 billion. Investors from France expressed a desire to implement new large projects. If earlier French businesspeople mainly invested in the development of heavy industry, now they see the best prospects for development and investment returns in digital transformation, production of renewable energy and agriculture. The French delegation is set to visit Kazakhstan soon in order to sign a new strategic partnership roadmap.
“We think that one of the sectors where we have the most positive prospects is the sector for sustainable urban development. France has a good strong experience in sustainable urbanism implemented by large companies as well as small and medium businesses, which use unique technologies. We are firmly convinced that we can build a very good partnership with Kazakhstan in this field,” said Franck Riester, French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness.
