Kazakh student Roman Govako has
developed a mobile application helping volunteers find and participate in
suitable projects while also enabling organizations to manage and coordinate
volunteer work. The new system ensures transparency and accessibility in the
process, strengthening trust and motivation for participation. Besides, it
features a rating system for each volunteer. All collected information forms a
portfolio that helps with employment. The application has already been
successfully tested during the floods in the Kostanai region. It bears noting
that Roman spent over six months creating the digital assistant
“Komek-Volunteer.” The project is currently in the initial stage of the
operation, with plans to improve and actively integrate it into volunteer
organizations’ activities in the future.
«The app offers extensive features, including an Instagram-like feed, where organizations can share updates, such as information about their events. Thus, participants accumulate their involvement records and volunteer hours over time», said Govako.
«We did not find any equivalents to the app. There are a few similar services in Kazakhstan, mostly websites, as observed during our thorough research of internet resources. Therefore, we decided to develop an app which is most convenient for people», said project supervisor Gulnara Abdulina.
