People in Kazakhstan increasingly began to invest in various financial instruments. Previously, the most popular type of investment in the country was deposits. By August of this year, the amount of deposits of individuals in domestic banks grew by almost 32 percent, which is several times more than in the past five years, ranking.kz reported. At the same time, starting from 2020, Kazakh citizens have become more active in the securities market. According to analysts, there is a huge increase in the number of retail investors at the country’s stock market. These are mainly those Kazakh residents who want not only to protect their savings from inflation, but also accumulate them. Their number exceeded 130,000 by the end of 2020, and approached 177,000 in June 2021, which is about 2 percent of the employed population of Kazakhstan. Mutual funds are becoming one of the most attractive and convenient financial instruments for retail investors in the securities market.
