Kazakh Prime Minister instructs regional governors to expedite restoration works

The peak of the floods has passed in Kazakhstan. Nevertheless, flood prevention works continue in the Atyrau region due to the critical water level in the Zhaiyk River. Round-the-clock duty has been arranged along the shore protection dams. Commissions are working on the aftermath elimination in areas with a stable flood situation. More than 60,000 Kazakh citizens have already returned to their homes in all regions affected by flooding. A one-time payment exceeding 10 billion tenge has been distributed to 26,651 families, while 239 families have received new homes and apartments. Construction of 794 new houses for affected citizens is underway in six regions. This was reported during a special working meeting in the government involving governors of the affected regions and ministers of the relevant departments. Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov instructed to expedite all processes related to the elimination of the flood consequences and to conduct a thorough assessment of the damage calculation.
