The peak of the floods has passed
in Kazakhstan. Nevertheless, flood prevention works continue in the Atyrau
region due to the critical water level in the Zhaiyk River. Round-the-clock
duty has been arranged along the shore protection dams. Commissions are working
on the aftermath elimination in areas with a stable flood situation. More than
60,000 Kazakh citizens have already returned to their homes in all regions
affected by flooding. A one-time payment exceeding 10 billion tenge has been
distributed to 26,651 families, while 239 families have received new homes and
apartments. Construction of 794 new houses for affected citizens is underway in
six regions. This was reported during a special working meeting in the
government involving governors of the affected regions and ministers of the
relevant departments. Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov instructed to
expedite all processes related to the elimination of the flood consequences and
to conduct a thorough assessment of the damage calculation.
