The volume of Japanese investments in Kazakhstan’s economy
has exceeded $8 billion. There is significant potential for strengthening
cooperation between the two countries, including in the scientific and
technical sphere. This was discussed today at a meeting in the Akorda
Presidential Palace by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Akihisa
Nagashima, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan. The Head of State
emphasized that Kazakhstan remains committed to providing favourable conditions
for investors, including leading Japanese companies. In turn, Akihisa Nagashima
reaffirmed Tokyo's strong commitment to further strengthening Kazakh-Japanese
multifaceted relations. The two sides underscored the importance of enhancing
high-level political dialogue.
«Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the development of
strategic partnership with Japan. Our countries have established close
relations based on friendship and mutual understanding. As we say: «Kazakhstan
and Japan are distant neighbors but close friends.» Japan is a key trade,
economic, and investment partner of Kazakhstan,» Tokayev said.
