President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the Kazakh people on Nauryz in Turkistan, the country’s spiritual center. He noted that the region is showing steady growth, with the economy expanding by around 14%, over 1.5 trillion tenge in investment attracted, and dozens of social facilities built. The Head of State also highlighted the region’s strong participation in the recent referendum on the new Constitution, with over 92% of residents in Turkistan city and the Turkistan region casting their votes. According to him, building a rule-of-law state has always been part of steppe culture and a cherished dream of the ancestors. Today, the new Constitution continues these traditions, based on historical legal codes while addressing modern challenges. The President emphasized that the main goal of the Basic Law is to preserve the country’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens. Turkistan is set to continue its development; the city’s special status was legally established a year ago. Looking ahead, the region will host an important international event: a summit of leaders of the Organization of Turkic States is scheduled for mid-May.
«A high-level meeting of the leaders of the Organization of Turkic States is scheduled in Turkistan in mid-May. Amid global instability, this international event assumes particular significance. The government and local authorities must ensure the summit is organized to the highest standard,» Tokayev said.
The Head of State also joined the Nauryz celebrations, meeting with residents and watching
the festive program.
