Kazakh President congratulates media workers on Journalism Day

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated media workers on their professional holiday. He highlighted the significant role of the media in advancing the unity and cohesion of the people in the country. It was also noted that nowadays the Internet and social networks are flooded with a stream of unreliable information. In these complicated conditions, it is an honest look and critical view of journalists that can be a reliable barrier to the spread of fakes and speculation.

“We all face the most important objective – building a New Fair Kazakhstan. Your articles and stories, investigative news make a huge contribution to achieving this ambitious goal,” the Head of State said in his congratulations. The number of the media in the country is growing every year. To date, 5,189 media outlets are officially registered in Kazakhstan. Nearly 3,700 out of them are printed periodicals, 84 radio and more than 190 TV channels.
