Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev congratulated citizens on the Republic Day, noting that this is the day
of the revival of centuries-old statehood. Historical justice triumphed with
the adoption of the State Sovereignty Declaration 33 years ago. The fateful
document met the aspirations and expectations of the people. Since gaining sovereignty,
the country has achieved significant success, having established itself on the
world stage, having resolved all border issues and ensuring its national
security.
“Over the years, our country has
undergone fundamental transformations. We have carried out a large-scale and
unique constitutional reform in our geopolitical region, which received
convincing support from the people in a national referendum. As a result,
citizen participation in the political process has increased significantly,” said
the Kazakh President.
The Head of State stressed that
the wealth of the country is harmony and unity, which make it possible to
maintain stability and what distinguishes Kazakhstan today. International
experts also rightfully recognize the country as the cradle of peace. Those
values need to be protected and preserved today. It is also important to
strengthen the foundations of statehood, and to that end to ensure the rule of
law, President Tokayev emphasized. Today the Head of State has also presented
state awards and prizes to a number of Kazakh citizens, among whom are
teachers, farmers, labor veterans, health and production workers, for their
significant contribution to the country’s development.
