In Kazakhstan, the first
government meeting of the new year on ensuring transportation accessibility
outlined the importance of enhancing coordination between airlines and
airports. The agenda also included the development of an action algorithm for
passenger transportation in challenging weather conditions, along with
additional provision of the country’s airports with specialized machinery and
equipment. Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov instructed the intensification
of cooperation among relevant agencies, organizations, and coordination teams.
He emphasized the importance of reinforcing preventive work with drivers to
clarify the prohibition of road travel during imposed restrictions. It is worth
noting that, in preparation for the New Year holidays, an operational
headquarters operated round the clock to monitor the situation and implement
measures across the country. Road services, together with local authorities and
the police, coordinated all necessary actions.
“Since December 25, weather
conditions deteriorated in almost all regions of Kazakhstan, leading to nearly
150 storm warnings. Overall, there is coordinated work between central and
local government agencies. However, to prevent tragic incidents, it is
necessary to strengthen collaboration among various agencies and organizations.
This involves ensuring round-the-clock clearance of roads and streets in
settlements from snow, as well as forming a reserve of vehicles for the
emergency evacuation of passengers to heating centers. The Ministry of
Transport and the ‘QazAvtoJol’ company are tasked with taking special control
over ensuring safe passage on the highways of national and international significance,”
Smailov said.
