President Tokayev meets residents of flood-hit Kostanai region

During his working trip to the Kostanai region, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met the residents in the city of Tobol. The Head of State stressed that rendering assistance to those affected by the floods remains a priority task, noting that all state resources will be directed toward its achievement. The government should fully eliminate the consequences of the disaster by winter.

“The key priority is compensation. Funds will also be allocated to those who have lost their housing or need repairs. Apartments will be purchased for those who wish to move into flats. Special standard houses will be constructed for those who choose to remain in place. There is a special project for such kind of houses. They have been tested, and are deemed to be resilient. These houses will be built on a mass scale throughout the summer and until winter,” said President Tokayev.

The residents of the region expressed their gratitude for the timely rescue efforts and prompt assistance in mitigating the consequences of the natural disaster. The situation has clearly demonstrated the unity of the people, with volunteers, civil servants, and rescuers protecting villages and towns from the first days of the floods. Besides, the Head of State paid special attention to the important role of businesspeople in providing assistance to the affected. Thus, the country’s large entrepreneurs will now be assigned to each region and provide support in overcoming the consequences of the floods.

“Prominent entrepreneurs, who are on the Forbes list, will be involved as well. They will be assigned to each region, district, and village. It is also in their interests since they will see the results of their contributions. I think your names, as philanthropists and volunteers who help their people, will not go unnoticed by the state,” said the Head of State.

President Tokayev also expressed gratitude to the volunteers, students, and labor groups of the regions for their civic activity and concern. It is in such difficult times that the unity of the people is demonstrated, the Head of State highlighted.
