Kazakhstan is strengthening its position as a digital
transit hub between Europe and Asia. By the end of 2026, it is planned to
increase the country’s share in international data transmission. The government
has reviewed the progress of major strategic projects aimed at achieving this
goal, including the construction of the Trans-Caspian highway and the West–East
hyper-highway. Total investment in these projects exceeds 30 billion tenge. Between
2025 and 2030, approximately 1.3 trillion tenge is expected to be attracted to
the country’s information and communication technology sector. Additionally, by
2030, Kazakhstan intends to commission 10 high-reliability data centers with a
combined capacity of approximately 20,000 IT racks. According to the Ministry
of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, Kazakhstan has
already established cooperation with several global companies, including
OneWeb, Starlink, and others. The government also reviewed the country’s energy
potential. According to the relevant ministry, the country is implementing a
comprehensive program to introduce more than 26 GW of additional capacity by
2035. More than half of that is already under development at various stages. In
total, there are 230 power plants operating across the country, including 156
renewable energy facilities.
