Kazakh government approves master plan for Konayev city

The Kazakh government has approved the master plan for the development of Konayev city until 2050. During this time, it should become a modern multifunctional center of the Almaty region. Overall, Konayev city will receive powerful innovation and industrial development and serve as the basis for the food belt of the entire Almaty agglomeration, as well as become a center of petrochemicals, oil refining and gas processing. Besides, the document notes the great potential of the city as one of the main tourist destinations in the region. In general, Konayev city will become a transport and logistics hub in the Almaty region for more than 25 years. The master plan also takes into account the settlements and residential complexes included in the city’s prospective boundaries and outlines specific steps for the implementation of the set tasks.

“Large-scale housing construction will be launched in the regional center. Overall, there are plans to commission over 2.5 million square meters of new housing. The number of preschool and general education institutions as well as places in round-the-clock medical facilities is expected to increase nearly twofold. In general, Konayev city should become a modern financial, cultural, tourist, scientific, educational, logistical, industrial and innovative center of the Almaty region,” said Dinara Alimova, Press Secretary to the Kazakh Prime Minister.
