Kazakh entrepreneurs expand cooperation with German businesses

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the launch of the Business Connections program between Kazakhstan and Germany. The interaction tool allowed over 700 domestic entrepreneurs to complete thematic business internships abroad. They were able to expand their partnerships with German businesses, establishing technology, goods, and services transfer. An extended conference on the results of business cooperation programs was held in Astana. The key areas of the project were green energy, renewable energy sources, and eco-technologies, which play a crucial role in reaching Kazakhstan’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.

«Certainly, the project encompasses many spheres, such as agriculture and light industry. Our primary focus is to teach entrepreneurs the fundamentals of economics. We also exchange experiences with businesspeople working in the renewable energy sector. Our goal is to provide Kazakhstan with the essential knowledge and address all needs,» said Gerlind Heckmann, representative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

Another important outcome is the opening of opportunities for signing new contracts. The annual turnover between the companies of Kazakhstan and Germany participating in the Business Connections program exceeds five million euros. Aknur Yermasheva is among those who secured a cooperation agreement following the internship.

«We decided to participate in the program and submitted the necessary documents. After being selected, we traveled to Berlin and signed the agreements. Products made in Germany, the world’s fourth-largest economy, are renowned for their high quality. This ensures strong demand, as quality is a key factor for consumers,» said Yermasheva.

By the end of this year, representatives of the domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) sector will have the opportunity to undertake business internships in Germany through five specialized programs. Among these are economic cooperation, smart agriculture, food industry, green technologies, and medicine.
