The latest AI technologies in the Kazakh language have been unveiled in Astana. Developed by specialists at the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University, the solutions were created to meet the needs of local users. The new AI assistant can translate text and automatically transcribe speech in 11 languages. Another technology helps blind and visually impaired people navigate their surroundings, while a separate language model can run on local devices without an internet connection. Among the institute’s flagship innovations is ISSAI Voice Studio, a platform that can automatically dub videos into other languages while preserving the speaker's voice, emotions, and speaking style. The institute's portfolio includes seven AI solutions.
«We
develop our products first and foremost for the people of Kazakhstan. We work
to benefit the country and promote the Kazakh language. Our goal is to ensure
it has the strongest possible presence in the digital world. We’ve welcomed
visitors from Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and we regularly receive inquiries from
across Central Asia. We are the creators of a large language model. We have the
expertise to build the datasets needed to train language models, allowing us to
develop our own,» said Amina Baikenova, Deputy Director of
Product and External Affairs at ISSAI.
