Kazakh developer’s know-how allows rapid diagnosis of lung diseases

New technologies in the healthcare industry. Margulan Nurtai created a program that allows automatic analysis and sorting of lung x-rays. According to the young scientist, the impetus for developing a new device for him was the coronavirus pandemic. It took Nurtai a year to study the theoretical material and write the program. The test and implementation phases of this artificial intelligence program lie ahead.

“First of all, a neural network model was created. We took 3,000 x-rays from an Internet portal and trained the neural network. In simple terms, a neural network is computer vision. Nothing slips past it. For example, this technology is used in Sergek cameras that record the speed of cars on the roads,” developer Margulan Nurtai said.

With the new technology, it will become easier to diagnose lung diseases, which means that the program will greatly facilitate the work of doctors, the project author believes.
