Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with
Chinese President Xi Jinping. Tokayev thanked Xi for the invitation to
participate in the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) and
congratulated him on the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist
Party of China. President Tokayev said that Kazakhstan is committed to further
strengthening its enduring strategic partnership with China. According to him,
significant progress has been made in trade and economic cooperation. Bilateral
trade has grown to $49 billion, while Chinese investment in Kazakhstan has
reached $30 billion. Major joint projects are being implemented in industry,
energy, petrochemicals, mechanical engineering, and agriculture. Tokayev also
highlighted the high level of cooperation on the international stage. The two
countries share similar positions on global sustainable development and
security. For his part, Xi said that relations between China and Kazakhstan
have reached a high level and retain significant potential for further
development. He also praised the reforms in Kazakhstan and congratulated
Tokayev on the adoption of the new Constitution. Following the leaders'
meeting, the 2027–2030 Trade and Economic Cooperation Program and Roadmap
between the Governments of Kazakhstan and China was signed.
