Kazakh chefs become members of world’s most prestigious organization

Kazakhstan has become the 38th country to join Disciples Escoffier International. The official opening of the representative office of this prestigious organization, which brings together the world’s top chefs, took place in Astana. Alongside 10,000 elite chefs, 80 percent of whom are Michelin star recipients, several outstanding figures from the Kazakh gastronomy scene have become part of this esteemed group.

“There are plans to organize masterclasses at the vocational education institution, with the participation of master chefs of the Disciples Escoffier International Association. This initiative will foster the professional development of our students, as the chefs possess extensive culinary expertise enriched by their own traditions. And we are committed to acquiring this knowledge,” said Yerzhan Pazylov, Secretary General of the Disciples Escoffier Kazakhstan.

The event was attended by Guillaume Gomez, the French President’s personal representative for gastronomy and the food industry. According to the chef, who has dedicated his life to culinary arts and served in the Elysee Palace for over 20 years, it is crucial to introduce the world to Kazakh national cuisine. To promote its popularity, the parties signed a series of memoranda and agreements. Additionally, this partnership will contribute to the development of tourism in Kazakhstan.

“In general, Kazakh cuisine is unique and characterized by many distinctive features. The techniques for preparing various dishes have been passed down through generations within families, a tradition well understood by chefs themselves. Moreover, whenever possible, every cook should offer foreigners unique national dishes to introduce them to Kazakh cuisine,” said Gomez.
