WBO middleweight world champion Janibek Alimkhanuly won his second title in
professional boxing. The 30-year-old Kazakh athlete faced IBF world champion
Vincenzo Gualtieri from Germany in a unification bout in the U.S. city of Rosenberg
and won ahead of schedule. Eventually, Alimkhanuly defeated his opponent in the
sixth round by knockout and took a title from the International Boxing
Federation (IBF) in addition to the championship belt from the World Boxing
Organization. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Janibek
Alimkhanuly. On his Twitter account, he wrote that ‘Janibek once again
demonstrated to the whole world the beauty and power of the Kazakh boxing
style’, emphasizing that such a victory motivates young Kazakhs to achieve
results. It is noteworthy that Alimkhanuly now has 15 wins in professional
fights, 10 of which are by knockouts.
