Kazakh airports served over 11
million passengers in the first half of 2024, marking a 21.5 percent increase
compared to the same period last year. The country’s Transport Ministry
attributes this growth to the expansion of international flights to 33
countries via 132 routes. Passenger traffic has also surged to nearly seven
million people. Domestic flights are operated by six airlines, covering 53
destinations with a frequency of 640 flights per week.
«Overall, 19 domestic air routes
in nine regions are being subsidized to ensure transport accessibility to
socially significant destinations and boost domestic tourism. All restrictions
on flights to European Union countries have been lifted for Kazakhstan and its
carriers following the meeting of the Flight Safety Committee of the European
Commission in May, where Kazakhstan presented its actions to address previously
identified issues. Also, a new T-916 route passing through the airspace of
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was introduced this year as an alternative route for
flights from Europe to Southeast Asia. Since its launch, 19 flights have been
carried out,» said Lyazzat Stamgaziyeva, spokesperson for the Kazakh Ministry of
Transport.
