The processing industry, agro-industrial complex, transport, logistics and tourism will be the major drivers of Almaty region’s economic development. Governor of Almaty region Marat Sultangaziyev reported on this in Akorda Presidential Palace. The head of the region reported to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the dynamics of Almaty region’s socio-economic development and presented the project for its strategic development.
“The project of the socio-economic development of the region consists of two stages, until 2025 and until 2030. Due to attracted investments, we are already implementing a number of industrial projects worth 290 billion tenge and agricultural projects worth 210 billion tenge. Overall, we expect the inflow of investments to increase by 1.5 times by 2025,” Sultangaziyev said.
In the future, the region plans to build 38 healthcare facilities and 51 schools as well as open the branches of leading universities, and a lyceum for gifted children. In addition, implementation of engineering and social infrastructure is planned in the region.
