Kassym-Jomart Tokayev meets with members of Digital Nomads IT Community

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with digital nomads in New York. At present, the Digital Nomads IT Community unites Kazakh IT professionals living abroad and working in the world's top technology companies. The prospects for the development of the IT industry in Kazakhstan and current global trends were discussed at an informal meeting. President Tokayev stressed that building a Fair Kazakhstan opens up new opportunities for talented youth. The IT community members also made a number of proposals to further develop and increase the competitiveness of the domestic IT sector.

“Among digital nomads there is an idea of competitive programming. Our community consists of 300  young people who occupy good positions in big companies like Google, Apple, Amazon, Tesla and others. They are really talented. So, we can create a talent pool in Kazakhstan for the youth to strive and develop in this sphere,” Aktore Beket, software engineer of US company, said.

“First, the community members help and mentor students pursuing IT degrees in Kazakhstan. Secondly, they are engaged in translating complex technology literature into Kazakh, as there are not many such books in the state language. Thirdly, they directly encourage the development of competitive programming,” said Bagdat Mussin, Kazakh Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev wished the representatives of the IT Community success and expressed confidence that they would make a significant contribution to the country’s development and prosperity.
