At the inaugural B5+1 format
forum, government and business community officials of the Central Asian
countries and the U.S. discussed a general plan to expand public-private
dialogue and enhance the regional business environment. Experts believe this
will give a new impetus to economic integration processes in Central Asia.
E-commerce, agribusiness, tourism, transport, and logistics are expected to
have a positive impact on regional development. Establishing a common market
and strengthening business ties in Central Asia will attract greater
international investment, broaden trade horizons, including access to global
markets, and diversify East-West trade corridors. The development of
transportation infrastructure in Central Asia will be a key factor in boosting
the region's competitiveness in the global economy. The forum also
addressed climate, energy, and water
challenges in the region.
“This forum serves as a crucial
platform for exchanging opinions and delving into matters of regional economic
integration. It stands as one of the few venues where representatives from the
five Central Asian countries, spanning the public and quasi-public sectors,
governmental organizations, and business associations, come together to discuss
our opportunities, as well as the risks and challenges facing all countries and
ways to overcome them,” said Kazakh First Vice Minister of National Economy
Timur Zhaksylykov.
