The historical and legal significance of Republic Day was discussed in the Senate by members of the upper house of Parliament, representatives of the Constitutional Court, the Institute of Parliamentarism, as well as scholars and experts. Participants of the roundtable noted that the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty on October 25, 1990, marked the beginning of the formation of an independent Kazakhstan and its legal system. In this document, Kazakhstan for the first time legally affirmed the supremacy of its Constitution and laws. According to experts, Republic Day serves as a reminder of the value of independence and the responsibility for the country’s future. They emphasized that such meetings provide an opportunity to exchange ideas and knowledge, preserving the continuity between generations.
«The significance of the Declaration should be seen as a step toward independence and stability, grounded in unity, equality, mutual trust, and respect. After all, people of diverse ethnic backgrounds live together in harmony in our shared homeland,» said Senate member Nurlan Beknazarov.
«This day is a very important holiday for Kazakhstan and its people. It’s heartening that our young generation understands its significance and what the Declaration has given us. The importance of this historic day is taught in primary schools from an early age, which is deeply meaningful,» said Senate member Kairat Tastekeev.
