GBWC women leaders’ meeting held in Astana

A meeting of women leaders Global Businesswomen Council was held in Astana. The event brought together representatives of global businesses, international corporations, as well as members of the government and national companies of Kazakhstan. Participants discussed current approaches to social investment, the role of women in transformational processes, and the importance of international cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. During the meeting, it was noted that women are making an increasingly significant contribution each year to shaping an inclusive and sustainable global agenda. They play a key role in the development of rural economies and have a noticeable impact on social and technological processes around the world. One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the signing of a memorandum and several cooperation agreements aimed at advancing priority areas such as education, healthcare, digitalization, and artificial intelligence.

«It is really important that states encourage social responsibility through a number of different activities and many of these things are already happening in Kazakhstan, but that continued focus is really important going forward. There are many things that need to be done to continue the ever-increasing role that women are playing in leading business and organizations around the world, not just in Kazakhstan. It is a global topic, and a globally important topic,» noted meeting participant Kirsty Wilson.

«I am truly pleased to be here today and to take part in the work of this platform. It brings together both representatives from Kazakhstan and international leaders of women’s organizations, who will be sharing their experiences on how to most effectively promote gender equality in Kazakhstan, support women in their personal development, including those in business, young aspiring girls, and others,» shared meeting participant Zhamilya Ernazarova.
