The first national school for gifted
children, «ABAI ULTTYQ MEKTEBI», will open in Kazakhstan. The new educational
institution, designed to accommodate 900 students, is being constructed in
Almaty at the instruction of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and is expected to
open its doors next year. The school will be based on the philosophy of the
great Kazakh thinker and will incorporate the concept of «five values». It will
provide an in-depth study of the state language and literature.
«This initiative will give a new impetus to
the further development of domestic education and the strengthening of
spiritual and moral values among the younger generation. «ABAI ULTTYQ MEKTEBI»
aims to become a centre for educating competitive youth in today’s educational
landscape. It will play a crucial role in shaping a new generation of patriots
in line with the Head of State’s concept of Adal Azamat (an honest citizen in
Kazakh) and Abai’s Tolyq Adam philosophy (Perfect Man). Currently, work has
begun on developing a unified program, «ABAY-Programme», focused on in-depth
study of the Kazakh language and several foreign languages,» noted Gulsila
Muzdybekova, head of the department at the Secondary Education Committee of the
Kazakh Ministry of Education.
This will not be just a school; its grounds
will include a boarding facility for students, a Teacher’s House, a library, a
modern sports complex, a greenhouse, and other facilities.
